Massell is a 5’9 guard who steps on the floor ready to compete. She reminds me of a player some might consider a jack-of-all-trades because she can wear a lot of different hats on the floor. Offensively and defensively, physicality is what sets the tone for her game. It’s great to see her physical approach to the game take a complete 360-degree turn because that was an area she needed to improve on from last year! She gets a lot of tough rebounds for put backs around the rim, and when she gets a lane to the basket, she commits. She can knock down the 3-ball and I can’t help but mention her huge game winner at the end of camp on Sunday that was a big highlight for the weekend and also allowed everyone in the gym to end on a high note. Areas of improvement going forward will be to continue to build on her current skill set and making sure her impact on the perimeter is as consistent as she is capable of. Overall, Massell is a player with a tremendous work ethic, infectious positive attitude, and big time toughness on the floor.
Massell is a 5-foot-8 guard that did a really good job of showcasing her shooting range at the Check Me Out SoCal. Her shot is smooth from the release and she has great rotation on her ball, which hones in on her consistency from beyond the arc. She hit several 3-balls over the course of the weekend in clutch scenarios and during the flow of the game. Defensively, she is active and was able to get tips and some loose balls. Her hustle gave her team some second chance opportunties over the course of the weekend. Going forward, Massell can look to improve on her ability to finish in the paint. If she can add a little more toughness going into contact, or work on stopping and popping in the midrange before contact, that would really add more dimension to her scoring and be a great option to go to when she is getting hard closeouts from defenders on the perimeter. Overall, Massell can not only shoot it, but she has a high baskebtall IQ and appeared to be a very coachable player.
