Olson is a 6' wing/forward that brings a lot of versatility to the floor. She uses her length really well and with her skill set, she provides a mismatch opportunity offensively. From the perimeter, she has the range to shoot 3's, as well as being comfortable in the paint. Going forward, she needs to dial in her on-ball defense against perimeter guards and develop her midrange game. She has the ball skill to push the ball in transition off of a defensive rebound, which could lead to opportunities to find space in the midrange to score. Overall, Olson has a log of toughness and pursuit in her game that makes her minutes on the court high quality. In SoCal, we saw her toughness and range really dialed in and it is now something we see as a consistency in her game. Continuing to build up her ball handling skill set and adding more strength to her game will only add dimesion to what she already brings to the table. She plays with heart and has a tremendous amount of upside to continue to develop, which is a huge positive.
Olson is a physical and competitive 6'0 wing player in the class of 2017. She brought the showcases energy up when she was showing her toughness in a competition dribbling drill in front of the whole camp. She has great length and size and crashes the boards with a vengeance. What is most impressive about her play, beyond the toughness she brings to the floor, is her ability to score the ball from the perimeter. Olson proved she is a next level player because she can really knock down the perimeter jumper and the 3-ball which is lethal at her size. Going forward, she can look to improve her ball handling in the open court and her left hand, so if she gets defensive rebounds, she can start the break in transition, which will add more depth to her game. Overall, Olson is all toughness, brings a great attitude to the floor and still has a strong upside.
