Wiggins Commits To Michigan
Ari Wiggins

Ari Wiggins of Indianapolis, Indiana, gave her verbal commitment to Michigan today.  The No. 12 player in the class is the first player in the 2021 class to commit to the Wolverines.

“I chose to attend University of Michigan because they are a global academic giant and school is always a priority for me,” Wiggins said.  “The future of their basketball program is bright and I want to be apart of their growing legacy.”

Wiggins is a 5-foot-7 point guard who has competed at a high level nationally both with the Indy Gym Rats EYBL program and attending the BCS All-American Camp last summer.

"Ari is dynamic and explosive, especially in the open floor with the ball, but it's her love to be coached, to be challenged, and to improve her game that separates her," Gym Rats 17U head coach Danny Riego said.

Michigan signed a strong four-player class in 2020 and Wiggins could be the point guard that ties it all together.

“My relationship with the coaching staff has been awesome,” Wiggins added. “Coach Arico has helped me see how I fit into their vision. And I appreciate how they have made my family apart of the UM family.”

Clay’s Take

Wiggins looks and plays vastly more mature now than she did when we first saw her as a freshman. She's a dynamic option who likes to get downhill off the bounce. Wiggins is super explosive in that regard but also showed here the ability to knockdown the open 3-pointer. A left-handed dominant guard, Wiggins gives Michigan a potential threat on or off the ball.
