South Carolina Adds Troup

South Carolina Adds Troup
#NationNews

Haley Troup of Gadsen City, Ala., is off the board and headed to South Carolina.  In addition to the SEC school, Troup considered Alabama, Auburn, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Alabama-Birmingham.

Troup is a fundamentally sound wing who can make shots from the perimeter. While Troup can stretch a defense as a catch and shoot player, she isn’t the kind of shooting specialist that can be asked to excel in a limited role. Instead, she is a multi-skilled wing who will make plays off the bounce and with the pass, it will be important for her to find a role at South Carolina that allows her to use her full skill set.

For South Carolina, Troup's commitment gives them their second verbal in the class of 2017.  Troup will join 6-foot-1 wing Elisia Grissett of Durham, N.C., and the pair gives Dawn Staley and her staff two wings who complement each other's strengths and weaknesses.  Troup is a skilled perimeter player while Grissett is an athlete who will be used to attack the rim and guard the ball defensively.  Look for South Carolina to remain active this summer and fall as they are in the running for a couple of post players including Troup’s summer basketball teammate Unique Thompson.
