On Friday, class of 2018 guard Savannah Simmons of Bel Air, Maryland decided to make a verbal pledge to Kansas State coach Jeff Mittie and his staff. Simmons, a 6-foot  guard, picked the Big 12 school after making visits to a number of programs including Clemson, Georgetown, Seton Hall, and Saint Joseph’s.  Simmons, who played last summer with Team Takeover, has the potential to bring backcourt versatility to the Kansas State line-up as she is comfortable playing off the ball but was forced to show her point guard skills last summer due to the injuries of others.

Simmons is the second member of the 2018 class to make a verbal pledge to Kansas State as she will join 6-foot guard Christianna Carr giving the Big 12 school two guards with elite size and the ability to play on or off the ball depending on need. As a combination Simmons and Carr can give the Kansas State backcourt capacity to create match-up problems for opposing teams and the flexibility to pair them with a true point guard giving them a combination of size and playmaking that few teams can equal.

With two players already on the books, look for Kansas State to hone in on an impact player with the remainder of their 2018 scholarships. They will have the flexibility to go after a priority post or point guard of interest in hopes of rounding out what could be an impactful 2018 recruiting class.
