WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Tina Thompson She Got Game Classic is a staple of the pre-Christmas coverage schedule in the DMV region. This years edition featured 58 teams with college coaches from near and far coming to evaluate the talented prospects on hand. Heres a look at two underclass prospects who left their mark on the event:
Raven James - (Upper Marlboro, Md.) Paul VI 2016
James is no stranger to our staff having attended both the Keil Moore Showcase and Elite Basketball Academy events in past years. In this setting with her school team, the 5-foot-3 point guard showed us that shes developed into one of the regions premier ball handlers in the junior class. James was steady with the ball feeding teammate Jonquanae Cole time and time again for Cole to score the ball at the rim. With her future Villanova assistant coach, Heather Vulin, looking on, James showed that she can also be a ball hawk on the defensive end of the floor as well.
Lucky Rudd - (Greensboro, NC) New Hope Christian Academy 2016
For years, Rudd has been on our radar playing on teams with talented older guards such as now-Vanderbilt Fr. point guard Paris Kea. As Rudd showed this weekend, its now her time to be the feature guard. As future her North Carolina State coach, Wes Moore, watched from the baseline, Rudd made shots from all over the floor. A four-star prospect, she has showcased herself as one of the premier sharp shooters in the southeastern region inside the junior class. Follow @BrandonClayPSB
