RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – There are few events on the west coast that bring all the best in the Golden State and sprinkle in talent from Arizona, Texas and Washington but the West Coast Spring Invitational is one of those events. Here’s a peak at some impressive performers from the many to choose from.

Amber Ramirez (San Antonio, Texas), San Antonio’s Finest – 2016

The player our staff nicknamed “Sauce” two years ago at EBA Camp for her slick and tasty dribble attack moves has become something of a master chef. The 5-foot-7 point guard has taken her ability to break defenders down with combination moves and blended them well with a growing basketball I.Q. Sauce can certainly spice things up with her trademark euro-step move she finishes with a floater over the weakside help, but she’s eliminated much of the overdribbling and also become one of the best catch and shoot guards in the class.

Ramirez has countered her relative lack of ideal size by developing a lightening quick release. She knocked down numerous shots this weekend with defenders running at her. She also showed the ability to play off the ball as SA Finest runs several of their sets through fellow ELITE 60 rising junior Chelsea Dungee.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYERS

Aislinn Konig (Surrey, B.C.), BC’s Finest – 2016

We’ve watched Konig really develop of the last three years into a well-rounded guard who can play both on and off the ball. Seeing her during the high school season and dominate as a scorer and here playing against top west coast competition and leading a young inexperienced team in all facets of the game shows her versatility. The 5-11 combo guard has terrific size and uses width and strength in her upper body to attack off the dribble. When she’s played for the drive she has deep range, courtesy of the international 3-point line she plays with most of the year. Despite living in an area with a shallow talent pool most years, Konig seeks out top competition with regularity and it has really aided her growth as a player.

Dyesha Stahley (Mesa, Ariz.), Blue Star Arizona – 2015

The 5-6 point guard continues to impress with her ability to play defense the length of the floor and excel as a pass first point guard. She plays on a team with several wing players capable of creating their own shots off the dribble so getting the ball to her weapons early in transition or setting them up with dribble penetration has become second nature. The biggest edition to her game from our high school season evaluations is her willingness to take and knock down the ball reversal three. Stahley is a guard that makes her team better by being excellent in her role.
