SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The ShesBallin.com Showcase has become a must attend for underclass prospects around the State of Texas. In the first two years, several kids have seen their stock take off as a result of Ray Caldwell’s willingness to showcase them in an evaluation-friendly setting. This year was no different as we look at three sophomores who rose to the occasion.

Mykiel Burleson (Pflugerville, Texas) - Pflugerville HS – 2016

Mykiel Burleson of Pflugerville, Texas, showed her skill here making plays in the open floor as a slashing option on the perimeter. At 5 feet 9, she has an ideal frame and style of play to serve as the off guard at the collegiate level. Her length should allow Burleson to be an effective defender on the other end of the hardwood as well. We project that added strength throughout her frame will only help to improve Burleson’s on-floor production but this showing gave us a glimpse into her ability.

Mikayla Christian (Round Rock, Texas) - Round Rock HS – 2016

Mikayla Christian of Round Rock, Texas, did a good job of handling the basketball today. The sophomore point guard is learning how to make the game easy, making a couple of post entry passes quickly and without hesitation. Christian’s ball skill was a definite point of growth from this same event in 2013. She showed multiple counter moves against ball pressure in the backcourt. A bigger guard at 5-9, Christian showed that she is both a solid shooter and able to create in straight lines. In that regard her game is rounding out similar to former ELITE 100 prospect turned Ohio State freshman Kianna Holland of Seneca, S.C.

Kianna Ray (Bowie, Texas) - Bowie HS – 2016

Kianna Ray of Bowie, Texas, was solid here for the third straight year. Projection wise, the 6-1 swing forward is a versatile prospect in the mold of Penn State freshman Peyton Whitted. A left-handed shooter, Ray gives up a couple of inches to Whitted but has a similar style of play and impact on the game as a whole. Ray does a lot of the little things that made Whitted a legitimate ELITE 60 caliber prospect. When Ray is knocking down the open jump shot, she stretches the floor making defenders leave the paint to come guard her.
