The past week has been busy for the University of Washington women’s basketball team. Not just because, like most programs in the country, full practice has begun, but Huskies’ second year head coach Mike Neighbors scored two recruiting wins.

Last Monday it was No. 5 junior Destiny Slocum of Meridian, Idaho, calling Neighbors to commit and Sunday night No. 60 Mai-Loni Henson of Temecula, Calif., followed suit.

“I know I'll be taken care of by such amazing coaching staff and teammates,” Henson said of choosing UW. “Family is important to me and I immediately felt that atmosphere at UDUB. Plus I get another chance to play with my old high school teammate Kelsey Plum. We are ready to build something great.”

Henson made multiple unofficial visits to Washington, as well as San Diego, San Diego State and UCLA. She had Oregon for an in-home visit and was going to visit UC-Davis later this fall but decided to commit before that date came.

The Huskies have 6-5 post Deja Strother of Bothell, Wash., the No. 35 prospect in the ELITE 150, committed in the 2015 class. They are finalists for No. 54 Asha Thomas, a 5-6 point guard from Oakland, Calif., and No. 65 Katie McWilliams, a 6-1 wing from Salem, Ore.
