On Thursday, 2018 wing Morgan Jones gave her verbal commitment to Florida State coach Sue Semrau and her staff. Jones is rated as the No. 41 ranked player in the ELITE 150 for the class of 2018 and is the No. 10 ranked wing. Jones becomes the fourth player in the class of 2018 to pick the ACC school as their destination of choice. Her decision puts Florida State in the discussion as one of the top five recruiting classes in the country before we head into the July evaluation periods.
Jones is one of the best athletes in the southeast. The 5-foot-10 prospect has an explosive first step off the bounce and is athletic enough to rebound around the rim. Defensively, Jones has the length and quickness to be disruptive while guarding multiple positions. Her athletic upside allowed her to garner national interest as her final list of schools included programs such as Tennessee, Mississippi State, Louisville, and others.
For Florida State, Jones commitment represents a great start to their 2018 recruiting class. Jones will join four-star guards Kourtney Weber, Izabella Nicolleti, and Amaya Brown as 2018 prospects headed to Tallahassee. As they look to finish up this recruiting class, Florida State will focus on adding a post to this class as they already have an elite 2019 commitment in 6-foot-5 post River Baldwin, adding a 2018 target such as Olivia Nelson-Ododa or Victoria Saxton would complete the class and keep it among the nation’s elite.
