Jinaya Houston of Davenport, Iowa, is off the board, staying home, having pledged to Iowa. The class of 2017 forward picked the Big Ten school over a number of programs who were interested in the 6-foot-1 prospect, including Colorado, Iowa, and others.
Houston is a versatile forward who brings size, length and athleticism to the floor. Her game is still evolving but her physical tools are rare in the recruiting world. More than anything Iowa is adding versatility with this addition. Houston is the kind of player who can attack the rim off the bounce, block shots around the rim, and push the ball in transition.
With her verbal pledge, Houston becomes Iowa’s first verbal commitment for the class of 2017. Houston ranks as the highest rated in-state prospect for the class of 2017. The addition gives Iowa a great headstart to recruiting the current junior class.
