The No. 3 ranked international prospect in the 2016 class, Francesca Pan of Bassano del Grappa, Italy, has committed to Georgia Tech coach Machelle Joseph and her staff. Pan becomes the third member of the class of 2016 to make a pledge to the ACC school and the second member of the Italian youth system to join Georgia Tech.
Pan, a 6-foot-1 wing, will give the ACC school a perimeter scoring threat who will be able to make shots from beyond the 3-point line while using her size to score around the basket from time to time. As a member of the U18 Italian national team this summer, Pan was able to score the ball on a consistent basis as she went on to average 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest, all while shooting an impressive 46.2 percent from the field.
Pan will join current Georgia Tech sophomore Antonia Peresson as the second Italian on the roster. Pan and Peresson were teammates on the 2012 World Championship team that played in Amsterdam and have since played on several teams together.
In addition to Pan, Georgia Tech holds signatures from four-star guard Zutorya Cook and four-star post Anne Diouf of Eustis, Fla. In the fall, Georgia Tech held the No. 40 spot in the 2016 class rankings. Look for the Yellow Jackets to make a leap as they’ve added a highly regarded four-star prospect to their 2016 class.
