Strengths

We posted an evaluation of Fitzgerald’s game during the winter of 2012-13, coming away impressed with her ability to knock down the open jump shot. A 5-foot-8 guard, Fitzgerald is a shot maker with the ability to make the open 3-pointer or hit the 17-footer. In this evaluation, it was that skill coupled with taking bumps around the rim while still completing the play that was impressive. That’s an aspect of her game that we had not seen consistently. In her play with her Finger Lakes Elite club team, Fitzgerald scores in bunches, averaging 18 points a game. That plus her ability to see the floor to find open teammates is a strong suit for her right now.

Area To Improve

In January, we mentioned that Fitzgerald’s keys to development included both serving as a position defender and staying low on offense. She has worked on her conditioning to put herself in a position to attack better off the bounce. That said, Fitzgerald can now focus on improving her ability to score the basketball with contact attacking the left side of the floor as well as she does the right.

The Bottom Line

Fitzgerald’s improvement over the past six months is so impressive that she earned an invite to the Elite Basketball Academy Super 64 Camp in June. Her ability to make open shots is the calling card that she’s built her game upon. We are starting to see her effectiveness in creating shots for herself off of the bounce as well.
