Four-star guard Jayda Adams of Santa Ana, California, has verbally committed to Duke.  The 5-foot-10 guard picked the ACC school over a set of finalists that included Texas Christian and Kansas State.  For Duke, Adams commitment gives the Blue Devils two members of the ELITE 150 for the class of 2017 as Adams will join 5-9 guard Mikayla Boykin of Clinton, North Carolina.

Adams commitment gives Duke a shooting guard to replace the production that current junior Rebecca Greenwell will leave open. During her time at Duke Greenwell has been used to stretch the floor with the perimeter jumper and come off screens looking to score. Like Greenwell, playing with and without the basketball is a strength in Adams game and her excellent basketball IQ would naturally fill that void.  Adams would have one season to play with Greenwell and then as a player who with similar strengths to Greenwell, be able to step in and fill her role on the roster.

"Adams is a long prospect on the perimeter and one that competes with her physical gifts as well as mentally," Chris Hansen, managing editor of ProspectsNation.com, said.  "She can catch and shoot to beat you but think her ability to play off the ball screen gives her offensive game real depth."

With Adams and Boykin on the hook for 2017, look for Duke to focus their efforts on class of 2017 forward Jade Williams of The Colony, Texas, while also potentially looking internationally to add a player with size to their roster.

** Duke also has a verbal commitment from McKenna Treece of Saint Peters, Missouri
