Lauren Betts of Centennial, Colorado, gave her verbal commitment to Stanford and Hall of Fame coach Tara VanDerveer.  The 6-foot-7 post is included in the ProspectsNation.com ELITE 60 Watch List for the 2022 class.  She carries 4.5-star rating and joins a growing number of players in the top end of the class making their decision early.

Betts has the size and frame that projects at the elite college level. As she becomes more comfortable on the offensive end, her production will increase as a result. Betts is unique in that she'll bring the Cardinal a frame that very few in the college game possess today let alone two years out from her first college game. That plus her willingness to be versatile in the middle bodes well for her future in Palo Alto.

Betts is the first player in the 2022 class to commit to Stanford.  Her size and agility complements the versatile three-player class VanDerveer and her staff signed in 2021.  That class included No. 7 Brooke Demetre, the 6-2 wing from Foothill Ranch, California, No. 22 Kiki Irafen, a 6-2 forward from Studio City, California, and No. 58 Jzaniya Harriel, a 5-10 point guard from Sacramento, California.

Betts was a major contributor in 2019 for the USA Basketball U16 National Team. She averaged a double-double and helped Team USA win the gold medal in the FIBA Americas U16 Championships.
