After a strong summer where she represented the USA U17 team in Spain and then played a key role for Boo Williams Summer League, Janelle Bailey the No. 36 ranked player in the class of 2017 has committed to North Carolina. In addition to the ACC school, Bailey considered programs such as Duke, Georgia Tech, and Harvard.
For North Carolina, Bailey is a big addition as they continue to rebuild and reload from some of the recent transfers. Bailey is the first member of the 2017 class to make a pledge to the Tar Heels, and her size will give them a defensive presence immediately from the start of her freshman year. With a host of young guards in their current sophomore and freshman classes, adding a true center with the ability to defend, rebound, and score in the paint was a must for North Carolina, and they were able to accomplish this in Bailey.
