Maryland has added their second verbal pledge for the 2018 class. Shakira Austin of Fredericksburg, Virginia, a class of 2018 forward, committed to Maryland coach Brenda Frese and her staff early in the week.
Austin, who is coming off of a strong summer in which she ran with Boo Williams Summer League and established herself as one of the more talented posts in the 2018 class, will join combo guard Taylor Mikesell as the second player in Maryland’s recruiting class. This is a great start for the Big Ten program as they now have two four-star caliber commitments early on in the 2018 recruiting process. Look for Maryland to continue to be active with 2018 prospects as they have shown interest in prospects such as Honesty Scott-Grayson, Xaria Wiggins, and Janai Crooms.
