This week, Virginia coach Joanne Boyle and her staff picked up a verbal commitment from 6-foot-9 post Felicia Aiyeotan of Philadelphia, Pa. The No. 87 ranked post in the class of 2016, picked the ACC school over Penn State and Boston College.
The addition of Aiyeotan will give Virginia a potential impact post to develop and build around moving forward. Her size and athleticism are true rarities in the recruiting world and if the Virginia coaching staff can find ways to help her develop her offensive game while also getting stronger physically, Aiyeotan could make an impact similar to that of current Texas senior post Imani Boyette. It will take time and development for Aiyeotan to maximize her potential but it’s not out of the question that she maximizes her potential.
While Aiyeotan might have the largest impact versus potential ratio in the 2016 class, Virginia is pairing her with some of the best guards in the country. Four-star guards Dominique Toussaint of Staten Island, N.Y., and Jocelyn Willoughby of East Orange, N.J. Look for Virginia’s 2016 class to make a leap in our final class rankings at the end of April.
