The ProspectsNation.com scouting team has been on the road throughout the spring and summer, evaluating the nation's top talent. Following the July live period, the staff has covered all three major shoe circuits—adidas 3SSB, Nike EYBL, and Under Armour Next—along with USA Basketball, independent events, elite camps, and showcases across the country.

As a result, ProspectsNation has expanded its 2028 rankings to an ELITE 40, accompanied by an ELITE 150 Watch List that continues to grow with weekly additions.

The 2028 class is particularly strong in the West, led by three California standouts in the national Top 10: No. 1 Tatianna Griffin, No. 3 Sydney Douglas, and No. 10 Amel Cook. The depth continues throughout the Top 20 with No. 17 Taylor Morris (Mesa, Arizona), No. 18 Maliya Hunter (San Jose, California), and No. 19 Amy Nduka (Sammamish, Washington).

The Midwest is also emerging as one of the nation's deepest regions in the 2028 class. The Top 20 features No. 5 Nyajuacni Riak (Madison, Wisconsin), No. 6 Chloe Johnson (Duluth, Minnesota), No. 11 Jordyn Haywood (Florissant, Missouri), No. 13 Janaya Cooper (Fort Wayne, Indiana), No. 14 Jhaliana Guy (Clinton, Iowa), and No. 20 Sydney Ferguson (Akron, Ohio).

The debate surrounding this class is far from settled and will continue well into the 2027 calendar year. Another rankings update is planned for late summer and fall following the conclusion of the shoe circuit season, Overtime Select, and several premier camps and showcases that will help shape the national landscape.

Griffin is in a phase of her development where the game has slowed down and things are coming more easily. She’s been playing up for several summers now so her abilities are battle tested.

AROUND THE RIM

Ella Watts of Huntsville, Alabama, is a player to keep an eye on. Her play with Southeast All Stars 16U on the adidas 3SSB circuit has been outstanding. As she moves up to the 17U level next season, she has the potential to solidify herself as one of the Southeast's premier big wings.

Staying in the Southeast, Leah DeWitt of Marietta, Georgia, put together an outstanding summer, highlighted by strong performances at Nike EYBL Session II in New Orleans and the USA Basketball U17 National Team Trials. While she lacks prototypical size for an off-ball guard, her production, toughness, and competitiveness are impossible to ignore.

Alannah Morantus of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, delivered one of the breakout performances of adidas 3SSB Session II, helping Mass Rivals push defending champion 7 Days to the brink. If she can consistently produce at that level on the 17U circuit through the remainder of the summer and into next year, she's a player with the potential to climb significantly in the rankings.

Macy Pringle of Oak Point, Texas, is a prospect we've been tracking for years. At Under Armour Next Session II in Louisville, she looked every bit the part of a high-level lead guard, displaying a mature understanding of the game while directing IFN's 17U squad with confidence and poise.

Taylor Morris, the 6-foot-3 perimeter standout for Mountain West Premier 17U, possesses a game that demands constant attention from opposing defenses. When she gets rolling, her shooting range extends well beyond the three-point line, and her combination of length and elevation allows her to shoot comfortably over defenders, making her an exceptionally difficult matchup.
