As signing weeks gets closer and closer, and as official visits wrap up, the pace of commitments picks up. Here’s a look at the weekly Rundown from ProspectsNation.com on recruiting news coast to coast.
Jenkins To USC
Jordyn Jenkins of Kent, Washington, gave her verbal commitment to Southern Cal on Monday. The 6-foot-2 forward is ranked No. 28 in the 2020 class. Her strength and agility are great assets at the 4-spot and she is coming off a great summer with Tree of Hope EYBL.
Jenkins is the first commitment for the Trojans in 2020 and she will come in on the heels of the six-player 2019 class. She gives the program some depth and versatility as pairing Jenkins with McDonald’s All-American Angel Jackson and combo-forward Alissa Pili gives a lot of options to Mark Trakh and his staff.
Samb To Cal
Cal is now off and rolling in the Charmin Smith era and the new head coach landed her first big time recruit with the verbal commitment of Fatou Samb. The 6-4 post from Houston, Texas, is ranked No. 76 in the class by ProspectsNation.com and is a top 10 post in the class. Her summer was a real breakout as she really put the pieces together to turn her huge potential into production.
Look for Cal to continue being active in 2020. The Golden Bears are finalists for a pair 6-3 forwards -- Dalayah Daniels of Auburn, Washington and Ugonne Onyiah of Eastvale, California.
Tac Chooses TCU
Adhel Tac of Sachse, Texas, has given her verbal commitment to Texas Christian. The 6-2 forward has a four-star rating from ProspectsNation.com and is on the ELITE 150 Watch List. Her energy and athleticism in the front court will fit well with the Horned Frogs style of play, especially defensively.
Waggoner To NC State
Dontavia Waggoner of Nashville, Tennessee is heading to North Carolina State. The 6-1 wing is ranked No. 35 in the class and chose the Wolfpack over finalists that included Florida and Virginia Tech.
Waggoner joins fellow top 50 prospect Genesis Bryant of Jonesboro, Georgia, in the NC State 2020 class.
Darby To Tennessee
Tess Darby of Greenfield, Tennessee, has committed to Tennessee. The ELITE 150 guard chose to stay in-state with the Lady Vols over finalist North Carolina. The sharpshooting guard brings length to the guard position and should be a floor spacer as a specialist on day one in Knoxville.
