Class of 2016 post Ciera Johnson of Red Oak, Texas, made a verbal commitment to Louisville last weekend, picking the ACC school over Duke, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and South Carolina.
Johnson is a true post player who will add size and interior scoring to Louisville’s roster. At 6 feet 4 she is comfortable playing with her back to the basket and scoring on either block. Johnson is a product of Duncanville High School, one of the most talent rich programs in the State of Texas. As the No. 33 ranked player in the class her addition will certainly increase the talent on Louisville’s roster but it also goes to show how long Louisville’s recruiting reach is. In recent years the ACC school has seen players from California, Georgia, New York and Texas make pledges to the ACC school.
With the addition of Johnson, Louisville now holds verbal commitments from four members of the ELITE 150-- Jazmine Jones of Tallahassee, Fla., Kylee Shook of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sydney Zambrotta of North Babylon, N.Y. The quartet should give the Cardinals a good chance at a top five signing class for 2016.
