LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –The Peach State Basketball Summer Kickoff has been an exciting way to start off this basketball filled month of July. Fans and coaches in attendance were treated to some outstanding performances.
Ariyah Copeland had a good performance at PSB Summer Kickoff after coming back from a torn ACL and an ankle injury. The 6-foot-2 post player has real size and strength to go with it. Copeland scored around the basket with finesse and is very effective with her left hand. She also showed that she could put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Copeland is on the top post players in the class of 2017.
Boo Williams Gold was represented well by the inside and out duo of Cameryn Wilson from the 2016 class and Brianna Jones, a 2017. Wilson showed her ability create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. She attacks the basket aggressively and finishes strong. When Wilson didn’t have the shot she had a capable target in Jones. The 6-4 post player has strong hands around the basket and in heavy traffic. She showed that she could catch and shoot the ball out to 10 feet as well as score through contact around the basket.
Joyia Maddox of All Alabama has a solid all around game. The 5-9 shooting guard has a good motor and plays with a lot of energy. Maddox has quick feet on defense and gets off the floor quickly to alter shots. She pushes the ball out on the break and is a good perimeter shooter with range from beyond the arc. Maddox is a versatile prospect in the class of 2019.
Class of 2017 small forward Kiana Adderton of Myrtle Beach, S.C., continues to improve at each event. She has a solid foundation and a good feel for the game. Adderton is becoming a more consistent scorer around the basket.
LaKaitlin Wright of the Georgia Dream Team proved to be a big presence in the lane. The class of 2017 post made it very tough for the opposition to score around the basket. Her 6-4 stature is a real asset for this prospect.
