The Super Elite 48 event in Arizona brought some really talented players in the Southwest together for exposure and competition.
Phoenix, Ariz., -- The Super Elite 48 presented by West Coast Girls Hoops, saw some of the best prospects in Arizona workout and compete over a two-day period. Here is a look at some of the standouts.
Zayn Dornstauder (Regina, Saskatchewan), Hamilton High School 2015
Dornstauder is a 6-foot-3 post with a combination of solid ball skill and good agility. She has the size to play the five in college but the skill to play with another post as she can step out to the high post or the short corner and make a decision with the basketball in her hands. Length is another asset that Dornstauder posses as she has long arms and the ability to create problems on the defensive side of the ball because of her range. Dornstauder recently moved from Canada to Arizona and will play her last year of high school basketball at Hamilton high school. As a class of 2015 post, Dornstauder is one of the better-uncommitted post players in the class.
SPOTLIGHT PLAYER
Maddie Frederick (Chandler, Ariz.), Hamilton High School 2018
Frederick is a young wing with the potential to develop into a nice two-way player by the time she is done with high school basketball. At 5-9 she has good mobility and is comfortable putting the ball on the floor and creating off the bounce. Frederick is a capable perimeter shooter who is consistent making shots both off the catch and off the dribble. Despite a sound skill set, Frederick makes an impact because of her willingness to compete and make extra effort plays on either side of the ball. She will rebound from the guard spot and is good playing the passing lanes and getting her hands on the ball on defensive. As a class of 2018 prospect, Frederick is worth keeping on the radar.
AROUND THE RIM
♦ Anna Grone is a silent assassin on the court. She doesnt talk a lot but she is touch and can make all the plays. She shoots the ball well, uses her strength to attack the paint and the 2016 guard simply produces during game play.
♦ Class of 2016 standout Payton Whitmore of Hamilton, Ariz., has continued to show improvement with each evaluation our Prospects Nation staff has had of her. The 5-6 point guard has good speed with the ball and the quickness to cause problems defensively.
♦ Kiarra Edwards of Surprise, Ariz., is a developing post player with a chance to put it all together. She has a polished skill set and a nice understanding of the game. Getting stronger and learning how to play through contact will be key in this 2017s development.
♦ Seniors Sabrina Haines of Mesa, Ariz., Armani Hawkins of Mesa, Ariz., and Kendall Perry of Gilbert, Ariz., were all on hand working the camp. Haines and Hawkins are headed to Arizona State next year while Perry will be at Bryant. Follow @KeilMoorePSB
