Strengths

Petty can score the basketball. She averaged 20 points per game during the 2012-13 high school season. A bigger guard, Petty can play both on and off the basketball. The 5-foot-9 perimeter option is a consistent spot shooter with range out to beyond the collegiate 3-point line. She showed during the Elite Basketball Academy National Fall Showcase that she also can pass the basketball, finding open teammates throughout the event. With her Carolina All Stars club team Petty has earned her three-star rating based on her well-rounded offensive skill set and size at the combo guard position. Her fit at the next level will be based on the program that she goes to.

Area To Improve

Petty can continue to develop her game with continued confidence on shooting the mid-range jump shot off of the bounce. Adding a shot fake into the one-bounce pull-up will bring another dimension to the shooting skill that Petty has already shown that she does well. It will also open up more avenues for her to create passing lanes to find open teammates as their defenders help to closeout on her to stop the pull-up. In addition to adding to her off the dribble game, showing increased overall strength will further increase Petty’s value on a collegiate roster.

A high academic watch list prospect, Petty is a player to keep an eye on as she gears up for the 2013-14 high school season. She sports a 4.2 overall GPA coupled with a 1520 score on the SAT. The National Beta Club member projects as an all-around asset both on and off of the floor for whatever college program she chooses to attend.
