Carpenter's reputation as a high energy lead guard is rock solid. After multiple viewings our staff believes that Carpenter is the type of point guard that can consistently deliver the ball to her teammates. Her IQ and skill combined make her a versatile option on the offensive end. Her shot mechanics are crisp enough to make her a reliable shot-maker if she needs to play off of the ball. If there is a drawback to Carpenter's game it would be her lack of size at a higher level. However, that limitation has only fueled Avree to play harder and get more out of her game each time she hits the court.
Carpenter is a point guard who gained the attention of evaluators at the All-American Camp with her ball-handling skills. She even confused many watching because she used her off-hand with such confidence that it appeared that she was left-handed at times. She does a very good job of changing speeds and directions with the ball, particularly when using the ball screen. With so much savvy in her game and IQ, she needs to prove that she can play at such a high level consistently in future evaluations.
