Shortly after the April evaluation period, Louisville coach Jeff Walz and his staff secured a class of 2015 verbal commitment from Brianna Jones of North Babylon, N.Y. Jones, a 5-foot-10 wing is one of the premier perimeter scorers in the class of 2015 and gives the Louisville program it’s third 2015 verbal commitment joining combo guard Taja Cole of Richmond, Va., and wing Maya Benham of Doulgasville, Ga.

With the addition of Jones, Louisville has just picked up another quality perimeter scorer. Jones is a power wing with a very good mid-range jumper. Jones likes to operate in that intermediate area of the floor and uses her size and ability to elevate over defenders to create enough space to shoot the basketball. Jones is a kid who knows how to score the ball and make plays for herself and is comfortable making plays in one-on-one situations. When you look at Jones overall game, she is the kind of player who can you a bucket at the end of a shot clock or catch it off of a ball reversal and make a play as well.

With the Cardinals’ 2014 class and the three additions for the 2015 class, Louisville has gone out and secured verbal pledges from some of the best perimeter players in the country. Signees, Mariya Moore, Mysiha Hines-Allen, Ariana Freeman and Sydney Brackemyre in the class of 2014 and in the class of 2015 Benham and now Jones. Each player that they’ve added brings something different to the Louisville program and that should give Jeff Walz and his staff a ton of versatility as they can mix and match lineups and make a bunch of different things happen on either side of the ball.

With its 2015 class three deep to date, look for Louisville to make post play a priority with the remaining scholarships. Forward Batouly Camara of New York, N.Y., and post Ayanna Mitchell of Conyers, Ga., are two options that Louisville has been linked with.
