Hamel has been dubbed one of the hardest workers at camp the past 3 years. She's very persistent and doesn't take plays off. Offensively, Hamel is a capable shooter behind the arc, but where she is most successful is attacking the rim with a straight line drive. She facilitates well within the offense, but being more vocal and having a consistent command on the floor is where she needs to continue to excel in. Her hustle allows her to be effective in the open court and her toughness gives her the edge rebounding against most other guards.
Hamel is a work horse. Her effort level on the floor is nearly unmatched every outing we've watched her play. Where she needs to improve is making her decisions less predictable. That will come as she develops more confidence and assertiveness running the point guard position. She's put on a lot of muscle over the last year and it really has helped her effectiveness on the court. Her ball handling is very crisp and it really has helped her get more effective attacking the rim and finding her midrange. Her toughness and willingness to do anything on the floor that you ask her to do is what makes her response on the floor so good. From the perimeter, she is also developing a midrange game that will be a really good highlight of her strength to get in the paint and get seperation from defenders. Overall, Hamel is a pure hustle player and coaches and teammates can see the competive spirit she brings to the floor.
